Protecting Vulnerable Communities

The values that define Newton, Waltham, and Watertown are rooted in the belief that every person deserves dignity, opportunity, and equal protection under the law. When any member of our community faces exclusion or injustice, it affects all of us.

To protect vulnerable communities, John has:

• Stood up for the rights of people with disabilities

• Increased funding for wraparound services for individuals with autism

• Championed the elimination of the statute of limitations for survivors of child sexual abuse

• Voted to protect immigrant communities from ICE overreach with the PROTECT Act

• Opposed book bans and censorship

• Taken action to support our LGBTQ+ community through funding for Planned Parenthood

• Codified abortion access into law with the ROE Act
